This policy covers the Gekelo macOS app and this website: what stays on your Mac, what may leave it, and what this site may measure.

The Gekelo app

Gekelo is a menu-bar companion that loads websites you choose in a side panel. You do not need a Gekelo account.

• Panel layout, bookmarks, and site data (cookies and storage from pages you open) stay on your Mac.
• In the panel, Gekelo can block ads and trackers with filter lists included in the app.
• We do not sell your browsing data.
• If macOS sends crash or diagnostic reports, that follows your Apple privacy settings. Gekelo does not include its own analytics in the app.

Cookies and sessions

Cookies and other site storage stay on your Mac. Gekelo does not send them to us. We have no Gekelo account system and no servers that would store your browsing sessions.

When you sign in to a site in a panel, that site keeps you signed in with cookies stored locally on your Mac, in the browsing profile for that panel. We do not read those cookies or copy your sessions elsewhere.

Sites you open still receive the cookies they need to work, under their own privacy policies. That traffic is between your Mac and those sites.

You can clear cookies and other site data for a profile in Gekelo’s preferences.

Permissions

A site in the panel may ask for camera, microphone, location, screen sharing, or notifications. macOS asks you first. You can change this later in System Settings or in Gekelo’s preferences.

If you allow it, that access goes to the site that asked. Gekelo does not keep or upload your camera, microphone, location, or screen content.

What leaves your Mac

Pages you open talk to their own servers. Gekelo may download their icons so the panel can show them. App updates come from the Mac App Store. Ad- and tracker-blocking lists are included in the app; Gekelo does not fetch them from our servers while you browse.

macOS may send other system data based on your Apple ID and privacy settings. That is Apple’s process, not Gekelo collecting usage data.

This website

If analytics are on, this site uses Umami (no cookies) for overall page-view counts. We do not use Google Analytics. We do not sell that data.
